Unfortunately there are many conditions which could have this type of appearance visually and your dog would need to be examined properly to make an accurate diagnosis. Some dogs do have ongoing problems with their skin and need to have regular treatment to keep it under control. It may be that your dog is one of them and may need treatment whenever his skin problem "flares up". I am really sorry to hear that you do not trust your vet any longer; if you feel this way you might consider travelling to see another vet but do remember that it is possible that no vet will be able to cure your dog, it may only be possible to keep the condition under control with medication which it does sound as if your vet managed to do quite well. Do seek a consultation with a vet soon but expect your dog to possibly need long term control of the condition rather than an immediate cure.
